NexTrex Recycling Challenge

Returning October 13, 2025

Did you know you can help the Borough of Hatboro win a bench for the community by recycling plastic bags and films at the Pennypack Community Center?

Join the Hatboro Environmental Advisory Council (EAC) and the Borough of Hatboro as we participate in the NexTrex Recycling Challenge!

The NexTrex Recycling Challenge was developed by the Trex Company, a leading brand of wood-alternative decking and railing/leader in high-performance, low maintenance, eco-friendly products. This challenge aims to remove plastic film waste from landfills while educating the public on the importance of recycling.

The EAC is collecting the following materials: (flyer with acceptable items)

There is a collection box located in the lobby of the Pennypack Community Center,

130 Spring Ave, Hatboro, PA 19040. Residents and visitors are encouraged to drop off eligible materials in the collection box during operating hours or after-hours during weeknight events.  The Hatboro EAC will also be collecting recyclable plastic material at upcoming Borough events.  If the Borough can collect at least 1,000 pounds of recycled plastic material within the next calendar year, the Borough will be awarded a free composite bench to be placed within the Borough!

Locations for Recycling Textiles

NOTE: It is most helpful for the thrift stores if the textile recycling (i.e. material that can't be resold) is bagged separately and labeled "Textile Recycling, Not for ReSale" from other regular donations.
